A driverless car demo in Islamabad did not go according to plan.
Journalist Muhammad Aalijah was riding in the passenger seat while showcasing a remote-controlled car built by inventor Ehsan Zafar, praising the technology on camera as it moved down the road with no one behind the wheel. Moments later, the car suddenly veered off course and crashed into a parked police van, with Aalijah frantically grabbing the handbrake too late to stop it. The crash was blamed on an internet disruption that caused the remote connection to fail.
No one was hurt and no charges were filed. Islamabad police even praised the young inventor afterward, calling him part of "the future of Pakistan" and chalking the crash up to an expected hiccup in early-stage tech.
