The Mall of America's aquarium had some unusual early-morning visitors this week, and every one of them had whiskers.
About two dozen orphaned kittens from the Bitty Kitty Brigade, a Twin Cities foster rescue, spent nearly two hours exploring the Sea Life aquarium before it opened to the public on Monday. They had names like Lottie Dottie, Bendy Wendy and Mouth Trap, and one named Turkey Leg batted at passing clownfish. ABC News reported it was the sixth year of the outing, and an aquarium spokesperson said they simply thought it would be a fun, engaging thing for kittens to see.
The trips help socialize the group's roughly 1,000 kittens this year and make it easier for them to adjust to adoptive homes, according to the organization. Puppies from another rescue get their own visits on a different day.
