Airport Banner Asking Travelers if They Left the Oven On Has Everyone Panicking

A single banner at South Bend International Airport has been poking travelers in the anxiety for more than a month and a half.

Notre Dame Federal Credit Union's ad asks passersby whether they left the oven on. After digital creator Molly O'Rourke posted a video of it and called it anxiety-inducing, thousands of people weighed in on whether the message was a harmless joke or an unwelcome dose of preflight dread. Marketing chief Allen Stenberg told the South Bend Tribune the campaign was meant to make travelers smile and acknowledge a familiar feeling, though the company understands it has landed differently for different people.

The oven line is one of several banners built around things travelers second-guess after leaving home, including watering the plants and packing a phone charger, and the credit union says an updated campaign is on the way.
