A routine night shift for one Trinity County, Texas deputy turned into an instant viral legend.
Dashcam video shows the deputy approaching what appeared to be a motionless doe lying along the roadside, only for the deer to suddenly spring to its feet and send him sprinting back toward his cruiser, screaming the whole way.
Sheriff Woody Wallace shared the video on Facebook, joking that instead of a citation, the "suspect" made a four-legged getaway into the woods. Wallace called it just another night shift where anything can happen, and confirmed the doe made a full recovery.
The clip has racked up more than 10 million views, and Wallace has kept the joke going since, posting a follow-up "update" claiming the deer was later seen giving a raccoon a ride home.
