A small plane came down on one of San Jose's busiest roads on Saturday afternoon, and a dashcam caught the moment it hit.
Video shows a single-engine Cessna 177 crashing into the Capitol Expressway near Excalibur Drive on Oct. 17, shortly after 3 p.m. NBC Bay Area reported the pilot reported engine failure before the plane flipped after hitting a light pole, narrowly missing cars and nearby homes. Two adults and a child on board were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, and no one on the ground was hurt.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating. Retired commercial pilot Doug Rice told NBC Bay Area the county airport commission warned officials in 1988 and 1999 against placing large trees or light poles along the expressway because it is a natural emergency landing site.
